Why You Need More Than “Just A Logo”

October 14, 2021

 BACK TO BLOG

A Logo Isn’t Enough. There, I said it. (But I say it with love.)

Now don’t feel bad if you don’t have top-to-bottom branding for your business. It’s totally understandable! Branding is not only an investment, but also a commitment. Good branding takes time because it forces you to do the hard work of getting to the core of your WHY and what makes your business uniquely YOU.

Hear me when I say: When you’re just starting out, it’s perfectly fine to start simple. “Just a logo” is certainly enough to get you started.

HOWEVER, as you begin growing your business and purposely promoting yourself online, you need a cohesive set of visuals to make an impact on your audience.

Why Just A Logo Isn't Enough | Absolute JEM

As you grow, your logo by itself won’t be enough—you need a strategic set of unified and versatile visuals that embody your brand. A color palette, brand marks, imagery, icons, and patterns, but *also* a clear mission, brand voice, story, and values.

Branding is a whole VIBE backed by strategy, in-depth research, and business soul searching. An entire set of cohesive visuals and messaging in alignment with your brand’s values and personality—while a logo, on the other hand, is one singular visual representation of your business.

And no matter how fabulous your logo is, there’s no way it can convey allllll the things in one static image. Nor can it transform the look of your website or social media feed to have your business’ uniquely distinctive look and feel all on its own.

Again, this isn’t meant to make anyone feel a certain way for “just” having a logo. There are valid reasons for doing so! I’m just here to underscore the value of developing a full Visual Brand Identity for your business.

Because you know, it’s kind of my job to do so.
